There is no one answer to this question. It depends on the type of front door, wood, composite, UPVC…. and also the situation of the door and what level of security you need.
But it is good to have a rule of thumb and we normally recommend the following:-
Wooden Door – Lock that meets or exceeds BS3621, it can be a night latch, mortice deadlock or mortice sash lock.
UPVC Door – a minimum 6 pin Euro Cylinder lock
You can see if a lock complies with BS3621 by looking for the kitemark symbol on the faceplate or sometimes BS3621 is engraved.
