A proximity key fob, also known as a proximity key or smart key, is a small electronic device that allows you to unlock doors and gain access to a secure area without physically inserting a key into a lock.
The fob emits a radio frequency signal that is detected by a receiver in the vehicle or access control system. When the fob is within range of the receiver, typically a few feet or less, the system will recognise the signal and grant access.
In some cases, the fob may need to be pressed or waved in front of a specific location, such as a sensor on a door, to trigger the signal. Proximity key fobs are convenient, secure, and easy to use, making them a popular choice for vehicle and building access control.
At AP Higgs we offer a full service from designing an installation, supply and fit to replacing new key fobs and reprogramming.
